Trialing out new beauty bits, sifting out the let-downs, popping the non-necessities into our makeup collections and keeping the staple, most-loved products in our routines is a general girl rule when it comes to beauty.
It’s wonderful trying out a
product that may have arrived in a subscription box or finding an exciting
sample, and the result can go either way. But a beauty favourite always stays a
beauty favourite.
Recently I have discovered some
absolute diamond products which have become every day must-haves in my life. I’ll
start off with a little dream of a lip balm I received in my October Birchbox,
the ARROW Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm. I have literally used this product every
single day; it’s always in my pocket and always on my desk at work. To the
point where I have run out and am insisting on running it to the grave! I am in
love with it.
Its packaging is pristine white,
with bright green and black arrow detailing which I absolutely love. Bright,
bold and daring.
Now to the product itself. The
actual balm is a transparent colour, and the idea is that it adjusts to your
unique PH to enhance your natural lip colour. The result (on my lips, which
will vary by customer) is the most gorgeous, subtle yet flushed hue with a lovely
glowy finish. The balm claims to include lots of nourishing goodness like mango
seed butter to hydrate and protect the lips, and this is really obvious as soon
as you put it on. It glides across the lips, keeps them moisturised and the
colour stays put for the most of day which is amazing! A major plus – its refreshing
minty scent, and the fact that it’s vegan, paraben, cruelty and gluten-free.
Do note, though, that the balm
adjusts to the colour already on your lips – so from my point of view it’s
highly advisable to pop this on unpainted, natural lips! Otherwise the more you
re-apply and build on the colour, it can turn in to a bright luminous pink –
unless that’s the look you’re going for of course.
I find this balm a really
beautiful addition to my makeup routine. There are days when my makeup is tired
after hours at work, or evenings when I want to go more au naturel. This balm
is the finishing touch to brighten up any look; it literally makes me more
confident in my appearance when I wear it, in the most subtle, natural way. I
simply love the colour and I adore the fact that it adjusts to your natural lip
tone – meaning the finish will never look out of place or over the top. That’s
a win-win in my eyes, and another will be on its way to me in the post soon!
My God I am over the moon I found
this little wonder wand. I have been using Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara for
6 months now, and I vowed to stick with it as I hadn’t found anything better.
But cheap drugstore products
never fail to pleasantly surprise me. L’Oreal actually seem to be really
impressive when it comes to mascaras. I found this beauty on Influenster.com’s ‘Best
Drugstore Lengthening Mascara’ award article, read up on reviews and found that
it was £10.99. Sold!
I’ve never been keen on small
mascara wands; I often find they don’t provide enough to work with and can be
too spindly. But this mascara has the most delicate little wand, and it proves
absolutely perfect for brushing through the lashes. The product spreads evenly
and fails to clump; creating the most beautiful, cat-eyed lashes that splay up
and outwards in the most elegant way. The best part about this product is that
it only takes a little product to go a long way, meaning it’s not only cheap
but it’s going to last me a long time.
Even when I’m bare faced, I can
pop on this mascara and it opens up my eyes in the most effortless way. It
lasts all day because it hardens on to the eyelash (which can sometimes make it
a little tricky to remove) and it never runs!
I am in love with this little glass
bottle of goodness! I received it complimentary from Influenster in my Bourjous
VoxBox and instantly warmed to its consistency and finish.
I always find it extremely hard
to get along with concealers. I have sensitive eyes, dry-combination skin, dark
under eye circles and I get eye bags when I’m sleepy too. So trying to find
something that covers all basis is a task and it actually puts me off the whole
trial-and-error process that comes with makeup. However I was totally blown
away by this concealer.
It comes in the cutest little
bottle which actually resembles a sample bottle of the Bourjois Mix Healthy
Foundation, with the brand’s signature raspberry tones on the lid. It has a
sponge wand which glides across the skin and disperses the product in the
softest way. The concealer itself is thick, smooth, delicate on the skin,
moisturising and most of all, natural with good coverage.
Its creamy consistency makes it
light on the skin and it covers my dark circles. For a night out I think I’d
have to add some extra for more coverage, as it does have quite a natural
finish – but for an every day look I am delighted with this new addition to my
makeup routine. It’s also the perfect shade for my pale skin, brightening up my
under eyes and refreshing my look.
This concealer will definitely be
my daily go-to from now on!
