ALGENIST FOR DEWY SKIN

Dewy skin is the ultimate craze right now and it’s a trend that I’ve been in love with since highlighters started selling out. Not only is it a current trend, but I think it’ll be an ongoing feature almost every make-up lover includes in their daily routine just because of how it much it can add to the most simplistic of looks. I love using cream highlighters particularly for every day wear, to create a subtle, “glow from within” kind of look – as sometimes I feel powder highlighters can be a little heavy on my dry-normal complexion. Liquid luminisers can add that healthy, radiant glow especially now during the colder weather when my skin can look a little dull. Not too long ago I was offered some gorgeous, radiance-perfect products to try: the Algenist REVEAL Concentrated Luminizing Drops * and the Algenist Hydrating Setting Mist *, which I jumped at the chance to sample!

I want to start off by saying that these drops come in the most elegant, frosted glass bottles that simply scream luxury. The bottles have thick glass to showcase the glimmering solution inside, with a metal top and a rubber dropper applicator. When it comes to displaying beautiful makeup products on your dresser, these little beauties are perfect for that!

The drops promise that, as well as the added benefit of correcting and treating uneven skin tone, they will provide long-term anti-aging benefits to skin – whilst nourishing the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. My drops came in two stunning shades: Champagne (containing gold pigments) and Rose (containing pink pigments). Although I’m typically drawn to rose-tone beauty products, which I find more flattering for my complexion, the drops melt so beautifully in to the skin and create such a delicate, subtle glow that I have been using both shades interchangeably and find them equally as flattering. Although I do prefer to use champagne in the evening and the rose tone in the day time for a more natural look.

I like to use these drops on the top of my finished makeup, concentrating on the highs of my cheekbones, inner corners of my eyes, my browbone, a little on the tip of my nose and sometimes a touch on my cupid’s bow, by placing a few drops on the back of my hand and using my ring finder to pat the product gently into my skin. The formula feels really light and weightless for a beautiful luminous finish without any visible glitter or shimmer, creating a really elegant look. What I truly love about this product is that it settles wonderfully over the top of foundation without moving product underneath; nor does it settle into my fine lines or accentuate my pores. The finish is a natural, lit-from-within glow; coverage lasting throughout the day without needing to reapply. You can buy this beauty for £22 with Lookfantastic.

As a sufferer of dry skin & eczema, any kind of hydrating mist is welcomed every single time. So I really couldn’t wait to try this one out. Not only is this product a setting mist, but it’s also a hydrating serum. I have to say I’ve never heard of a mist like this be such a unique, 2-in-1 product. The bottle itself is a simple, sophisticated clear bottle which emphasises quite a clinical beauty look, which is just the image most of us look for when we’re discovering new skin-focused products.

Considering the product is a serum formula, I wondered if it may be a little heavy on the face – however I couldn’t have been more wrong. The consistency is lightweight and gentle on the skin, coming out as a very fine mist, which smells incredibly fresh. It’s also not too wet or overwhelming on the face and only takes a few seconds to settle in. The added benefit of the bottle of that it doesn’t dispense too much product, so it lasts for ages! After a month of using it, my bottle looks untouched, which I’m really impressed with.

I choose not to use this spray at night because I already have my abundance of special prescription creams and lotions and potions which are delegated for my nightly routine and I don’t like to mess with that. However, this mist is always used on the top of my makeup in the mornings; providing that instantly-refreshed feeling and finishing off your dewy look. The retail price for this £28 and it can be found at Space NK.
